Physical development encompasses two major areas:
Gross motor skills, including hand-eye coordination (catching a ball), balancing & stamina, and strength.
|
Fine motor skills, including small, exact movements (using a fork), hand-eye coordination to complete a task, and dexterity.
|
It's important to develop these skills from a young age because fitness is a lifelong task. Healthy habits formed at this age are carried through life! Fine motor skills especially are imperative because they shape the way that the children will be able to write, cut a carrot, flip the pages of a book, type on a keyboard...

Arts & Crafts Days!
afternoon half of every Tuesday
These days are dedicated to helping students learn to follow instructions, carry out small processes, and improve important fine motor skills like using scissors, glue, and tape; drawing and coloring inside lines; molding shapes; and writing (for older kids). It's also an excellent way to exercise the mind and apply information learned from our monthly themes.

Strength is developed through healthy snacks and engaging team sports! Parents are welcome to join! Besides Field Day, recess is held Monday - Thursday for 2 thirty minute sessions.
